YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS
Posted by RCG Foundation on Jul 3, 2015 in Articles | 1 commentI remember some years ago, during one of the periods of fuel scarcity in my country, I had no fuel in my car, I used the reserve to get to work in the morning and after work I sat in the car not knowing what to do. My CEO was passing by also closing for the day, he got near my car and asked why I was downcast, and I told him I had no fuel in my car to take me home. Then he directed my attention to a sticker on my car dashboard which quoted Philippians. 4:13 which says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. He looked at me and jokingly was referring to the sticker ‘this should take you home’, and he left.
I did not get his joke, all I could say to myself was,“how could a sticker take me home?” As at that time I had not really known God, though I used to go to church but His words had not penetrated into my hearts the way they are now. Moreover, I never had personal relationship with him. So, I kept on looking at the sticker, reading those words aloud and it got to a point that I had the courage to start my car and believed that the car will take me home even if there was no fuel in the car. I got home after spending more than 4 hours in heavy traffic! From that day I knew there is power in His words all what we are required to do is to believe in them.
Faith is believing God (2 Corinthians. 5:7), and Faith is a substantial and real thing (Hebrew 11:1). Every of God’s promise or blessing needs faith to activate it, your own is not to keep on thinking how He is going to do it but to believe that He who has promised has the capability to fulfill His promise. Faith is not a one-time action, it is a continuous process. Put your faith in action!Has God called you into an assignment and you do not know how to start it, and you are now having sleepless night because time is flying away and you have not really done anything about the assignment? He who has called you will also empower you to do that thing He has called you to do. You just need to be faithful and continue putting your trust in Him.
Though we are all human, once in a while we get weary and we forget our caller and we focus on one and one million reasons it will not be possible to achieve our goals. We should avoid unnecessary distractions and focus on one and one million reasons we will achieve what we are called to do, this we will achieve by reading His words as often as possible, praying for His empowerment, believing faith is gift from God, and by listening to testimonies of faith. We should live our life by faith according to Galatians 2:20 and Hebrews10:38. We must know clearly that we are saved by faith (Ephesians2:8-9), that we cannot please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6 and Romans 14:23), and that faith gives us the strength to keep going (2 Corinthians4:16-18 and Romans 11:20).
I also remember the first day God communicated my divine assignment to me, all that was going on around me was in contrary to the direction God asked me to follow. But I obeyed and I held on to the same Philippians. 4:13 and it worked for me and today I am glad I yielded to His voice. All I could say is faith made me yield to Him, and the same faith is at your disposal now, it will surely work for you, just believe. As the song goes: trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey. Mark 11:23-24 is also a part of the scripture that encourages us to believe God no matter what the obstacle could be. I do not know what you are trusting God for, but all I know is that our God is able to give you an expected end, but your part is to keep on believing Him.As I keep on saying faith and patience work hand in hand (Hebrews6:12), if you are going to be faithful, you must also be patient. Hebrews10:36 says that after doing the will of God, which in this case is believing Him, you must also exercise patience to receive your promise.
The first time I read Gal. 5:22 that mentioned fruit of the Spirit, I asked myself if we could have fruit of the Spirit we must have seed of the Spirit. So, I kept on digging into the Scripture until I came across a verse that says we are being born again by the word of God which is incorruptible seed that lives and abides forever ( Peter 1:23). From the moment I knew the word of God is the seed of the Spirit, everything turn around for good in my life, my life has never been the same since that time. So, what do we do with the seed to yield fruit of the Spirit?
Words of God are alive and they contain life, they may look lifeless and powerless as seeds too, but they are not without life and power. You cannot see, feel, hear, smell, or taste the life in a seed, there is only one way to prove a seed is alive – plant it. A seed does nothing until planted. Seeds do not grow sitting in a sack on your shelf, they must be planted in the proper place. If you desire the Word of God to produce in your life, you must decide to plant the Word in your heart and mind. The best way to plant the seed of God’s Word in your life is by speaking the Word. As we speak God’s Word we are planting the seed in our heart for the harvest of results we desire (Romans 10:10). A seed is much smaller than the fruit it produces. The problem you face may seem huge, in comparison, a scripture may seem very small, but when planted, that Word will grow in you and overcome the problem. A seed always produces after its kind (Galatians 6:7). Whatever you need, or desire (fruit of the Spirit), find scriptures relating to that. Then plant those scriptures inside you in abundance. Those seeds will grow up and produce a harvest of what you need or desire.
In every instruction or promise a scripture is given, there is always something expected of us to do. Doing such thingor obeying His words is sowing seed. The expectation may be to sow seed of love, joy, peace, self-control, patience, gentleness, goodness, meekness and faith. In any of the areas you are being called, know that it is for your spiritual advancement and your physical success. Joyfully learn whatever God is bringing your way it is what will launch you to the next level of your life.
If you read the verse that precedes Phil 4:13, you will realize that Apostle Paul had subjected himself to a lot of inconveniences and after various experiences he was able to testify that he is content in any position he finds himself, and he was able to have assurance, confidence and boldness which are the elements of faith to say in verse 13 that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him.My dear friend, in any position you find yourself take it with joy and believe on the promise of God that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. The glory of God will be upon your soul in Jesus’ name.
Perhaps you have not come in contact with Jesus Christ the great deliverer or you need to restitute your way, it is not too late to know Him, all you need to do is declare Him as your Lord and Savior, confess and repent from your sins. He will save you and give you a brand new beginning, and there after pursue the spiritual things to give your soul and heart permanent peace and rest they deserve.
